Adrenal fatigue can sneak up on you and knock you on your ass if you're not careful.
There are so many situations that can trigger AF, but here's a few.......
-Being in a toxic relationships (chronic stress)
-Being in a high stress job
-Fueling off adrenaline
-Using massive amounts of caffeine to get you through your day
-Not eating regularly
-Poor sleep habits
-Lack of self care
If you suspect you have Adrenal Fatigue, here's a few things I recommend:
✨ Make SURE you are eating every 1.5-2 hours. When you go long periods of time without eating, your adrenals will send adrenaline into your system for energy, since you don't have food as fuel. This taxes your adrenals, increases cortisol production and taxes your pancreas as well.
✨ Avoid caffeine to the best of your ability. I understand how hard it is to come off of caffeine, trust me. I was a 900mg/day type of girl. Caffeine triggers your sympathetic nervous system to fire, turning on your adrenals. Remember, when we reach for caffeine, it's because our body is TIRED. . . . it's asking us to rest because it NEEDS it. When you drink caffeine, you're forcing it not to rest.
✨ Avoid high intensity exercises and exercises that are adrenaline pumping like Orange Theory, CrossFit, bootcamps, etc. These encourage competition, have loud music and are all about speed and rushing. Again, all sympathetic nervous system exercises. These are extremely taxing on the adrenals.
✨ Opt for calm, low impact type exercises like yoga, nature walks, hiking, or slow paced strength training.
✨ Avoid stressful situations to the best of your ability. Sometimes this is difficult considering our situations. Sometimes our most stressful situations are right in our own home. Other times, it's at work. Regardless, try to keep yourself in as calm and safe of an environment as possible.
✨ Get on a good adrenal support. I actually prefer a bovine adrenal support only because I know it works well for me. Some herbal adrenal supports can be really beneficial too. Adrenal support supplements can help give your adrenals the nutrients they need while they're trying to rebuild
I hope this helps you and please feel free to reach out with any questions.
